Ski touring on Mount Sproat

Mount Sproat is just west of Whistler. When you ski the resort you can always see it so I was pretty keen to go there since a long time.

View to Mount Sproat from the Creekside parking lot.

After about 2 hours we had our first lunch break . Kerstin and Ken + Kate who we met at an avalanche course earlier this season.

Ken heading towards the meadows below Sproat and Rainbow Mountain. Nice coast scenery.

Kerstin and Kate are following.

More coast forest.

Kerstin reaching the top. Well, we never reached the top since it got a little bit late but that's where we had a rest and turned around later. Ken and Seppel went up for one run from here.

Ken breaking trail. It also cleared up which was quite nice.

We still haven't figured out what this mountain is? Or Ken do you know now?

Looks like some nice skiing possibilities here.

Ken coming down and putting some nice tracks in. This guy knows how to ski, well, he telemarks which is even harder. Pretty impressive so.

More turns.

Really nice skiing up there. Wish we could have done more but we were running out of time. Perhaps another time.

Somewhere down there were Kate and Kerstin waiting.

Later on we visited Justine and Nick where we also stayed over night. Thanks guys. They cooked us a fantastic dinner.

Later on we went to the new nordic area where the nordic events (cross country, biathlon, ski jumping) will be held. We met this gangsta from Offenbach. Well, actually the sun wasn't shining but since he forgot his sunglasses the day before his eyes were a little bit sore.It also wasn't cold he just wanted to wear his new jacket and look big.

The nationals for cross country (Langlauf) were on and a friend of us was taking part. Well, he tried to but unfortunately he lost his ski in the first corner and since it was a sprint race he was pretty much out. Perhaps he did too much back country skiing.

Tom saying hello.

And here you go, still on both skis.
